On September 29, 2009, there was held a press conference dedicated to the publication of the book "Azerbaijani flag on the East River Bank" in the "Alinja" Hall of the EXCELCIOR hotel. Director General of the Center F.Babayev, Academician A.Nadirov, press secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs E.Polukhov and the UN resident in Azerbaijan, advisor on public relations and information F.Abbaszade spoke about the importance of the book. The representatives of media also took part at the press conference. "Azerbaijani flag on the East River Bank" is a new publication by Heydar Aliyev Heritage Research Center dealing with the Azerbaijani-UN relations. The book is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the first speech of the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev at the General Assembly of the UN. Of course, is impossible to include all the documents about the relations of Azerbaijan with all the agencies of the UN into one volume. That is why, the documents reflecting the core of these relations were chosen when the book was compiled. The book is presented to readers in Azerbaijani and English, and as a digest in Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian and Arabic. The advisor of the book is Asaf Nadirov, responsible for publication Vurhun Suleymanov, and head of the creative group is Fuad Babayev. "Azerbaijani flag on the East River Bank" includes the speeches of Heydar Aliyev at 49th, 50th sessions of the General Assembly and at the Millennium summit, as well as the speeches of President Ilham Aliyev at the 58th, 59th sessions, the texts of his meetings with the chiefs of the UN programmes, agencies and funds. The speeches of Mehriban Aliyeva at the ceremony of her designation as a goodwill ambassador of UNESCO and at the opening ceremony of the "Azerbaijani chamber" in the United Nations Office at Geneva have also been included in the book. The book includes 64 documents and 50 photos taken during various sessions and meetings mentioned above, historical references on the UN-Azerbaijani relations, four resolutions adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations on the conflict over Mountainous Garabag is a valuable source for the interested in the relations of with this international organization. |
